Italian Superwash Merino DK is a lovely standard DK weight yarn made from 100% superwashed merino meaning that the fibres have been specially treated before being spun to enable it to be machine washable, therefore will not ‘felt’ when dyed or washed. It is a great yarn for an easy-care garment. The merino is 21 micron and therefore very soft and not at all itchy or scratchy next to the skin. With a 4/9nm construction the yarn has lovely stitch definition and can be readily used in any pattern using a standard DK weight yarn.

A temporary replacement for our regular and highly popular Peruvian Superwash Merino DK yarn (for which production has been delayed due to C-19) our Italian Superwash Merino DK yarn comes with all the same, beautiful qualities. This base will only be available while supplies last, until we receive our regular sock yarn from the mill in Peru.

The merino is mulesing free and comes from South Africa. The yarn is 100% animal fibre and perfect for dyeing. The yarn is a good bright colour and would dye up well in subtle light shades or bright and vibrant colours. For bright vibrant colours we recommend using acid or natural dyes.

"The superwash merino DK is my personal favorite base.  It plumps up so well and looks so lovely after being dyed.  It’s the type of yarn you want to squish and hold against your face.  It is a little slower to take color, which make it perfect for glazing and using several layers of color."
