Alpaca Silk 4 Ply is 3/12nm and 200m (218 yds) per 50g hank and a perfect blend of superfine alpaca and silk. This is luxury yarn without the price tag. It is made from the fleece of Alpaca that have been especially bred for their fineness. Alpaca is a hollow fibre which has excellent insulation properties meaning it can retain more heat, making it 3 times the warmth of sheep’s wool. It has hypoallergenic properties, it contains no lanolin, which makes the fibre safe to wear if you have skin allergies. The silk gives it a shiny smooth lustre that feels soft and luxurious to work with.
The yarn is 100% animal fibre and perfect for dyeing. To be successful we recommend using acid or natural dyes to create bright and vibrant colours.
Alpaca Silk 4ply is especially suited to weaving, knitting and crochet; making scarves, shawls, wraps, baby and adult garments.
