Description: One of our best sellers! Our Italian Superwash Sock is spun in Italy and has a standard construction of 4/16nm with 400m (437 yds) per 100g. Made with 75% Superwashed Merino wool and 25% Nylon, the merino fibres have been specially treated before being spun to enable it to be machine washable, therefore will not ‘felt’ when dyed or washed. The merino is combined with a smaller percentage of nylon giving the knitted fabric extra durability and strength making it harder wearing. The merino gives natural elasticity and we deliberately use 21 micron merino fibres which are not itchy or scratchy on the skin. The yarn is perfect for socks but can equally can be knitted into scarves, shawls or even baby garments which will feel soft next to the skin due to the fine micron merino used.
A temporary replacement for our regular and highly popular Peruvian Superwash Sock yarn (which was been delayed due to C-19) our Italian sock yarn comes with all the same, beautiful qualities. This base will only be available while stocks last.
Both merino wool and nylon accept acid dyes so the yarn is perfect for dyeing and readily takes up the dye.
"The superwash sock is my most popular base. It takes color so fast that I am surprised every time I dye it. This makes it perfect for speckling. It’s durable but also very soft. My customers are never unhappy with this yarn and I am guilty of making myself and my family socks with it as well!"
